Beer Can Chicken

Using the herQs Pin Probe thermometer. This is a juicy and flavorful way to cook a whole chicken on the grill. The herQs Pin Probe thermometer helps you check the core temperature of the chicken so you can make sure it is cooked to perfection. Let’s get started:

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (about 1.5 to 2 kg)
  • 1 can of beer (preferably a light pilsner)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: smoking wood chips for extra flavor (e.g. apple or hickory)

Supplies:

  • herQs Pin Probe thermometer
  • Grill (charcoal or gas grill)
  • Beer can holder (or you can also buy a special beer can holder designed for grilling chicken)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, cumin powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt and pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Make sure the chicken breasts are evenly coated with the marinade. Cover the dish and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, but preferably several hours or even overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the herQs thermometer. Insert the probe of the herQs thermometer into the thickest part of a chicken breast, without touching the bone. Make sure the probe is securely attached.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium heat.
  5. Remove the marinated chicken breasts from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature before grilling.
  6. Place the chicken breasts on the grill and close the lid.
  7. Grill the chicken breasts for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C), which indicates they are done cooking.
  8. Remove the grilled chicken breasts from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Serve the grilled chicken breasts with fresh lemon wedges on the side for an added touch of freshness.

Using the herQs thermometer, you can accurately measure the core temperature of the chicken breasts and ensure that they are cooked to perfection. The herb marinade adds delicious flavor to the chicken, making it a great meal for a cozy barbecue or a weeknight. Enjoy your grilled chicken breast!
